Pathology

A range of minor in-house pathology services to provide patients with fast and accurate results for their diagnostic tests. Laverty services include blood tests, urine tests, stool tests, and other diagnostic tests, using the latest technology to provide accurate and fast results.
The service will be available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 08:30am to 01:30pm.

Making Appointments

Calling during our opening hours or booking an online appointment here.

At Elermore Medical centre, our standard appointment times are 15 minutes. This allows more time to address your concerns and provide thorough care. Please note, not all issues may be able to be fully addressed in one appointment and review appointments may be needed. Please make a separate appointment for each person that requires a consultation, even if you are seeing the same doctor. We endeavour to prioritise urgent consultations.

Important notes on appointments:

  • If you have a fever or respiratory symptoms, please call the reception for advice.
  • Telehealth appointments are available. A Medicare rebate is only available for patients who have attended our clinic for a face-to-face appointment in the last twelve months.
  • If you need a long consultation, you can request by calling the clinic.
  • You will need to have a standard appointment if you need repeat prescriptions of your long-term medications.
  • A deposit may be required at the time of booking a procedure to secure your booking.
  • Employment medicals cannot be claimed from Medicare.
  • If you require a work cover consultation, please let the reception know before you make a booking. The patient is generally required to pay the full fee to the clinic at the end of the consultation and the patient will be responsible to contact their insurer to claim back the funds.

Cancellations

We understand that you may at times need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. If you need to do so, we kindly request you give us sufficient notice before your appointment time, so that other patients have an opportunity to be seen.

Cancellation of standard appointments

A minimum of 2 hours notice for all standard appointments is required when cancelling or rescheduling an appointment. Failure to give notice within this time frame will result in a ‘did not attend’ and incur a $40.00 fee.

Cancellation of procedures

A minimum of 24 hours notice for all procedures is required when cancelling or rescheduling an appointment. Failure to give notice within this time frame will result in a ‘did not attend’ and your deposit will be forfeited.

If you have any cold/flu/respiratory symptoms you will be required to reschedule your procedure, and failure to do this within an appropriate time frame will result in a forfeit of your deposit.

Our practice’s policy for managing patient health information

The provision of quality health care requires a doctor-patient relationship of trust and confidentiality. This practice strictly follows The Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000 in relation to its confidentiality issue. Patient Health Information

Patients health information are important data and the information is stored electronically in our clinic computer system securely including a regular back-up everyday with an off-site back up option.

Our practice’s communication policy

Should you have a query for your doctor you may phone the clinic and leave a message with reception, who will relay the message to the doctor. The doctor will call you back or advise if it is more appropriate for you to make an appointment to discuss your enquires further.

Patients may communicate with the practice via email and it will be responded as mentioned above.

Our practice may send SMS reminders about your upcoming appointments, recalls for abnormal results or follow-up appointments.

Results

Results of investigations that your doctor has requested generally require review appointments. All abnormal results will require an appointment with the doctor for further discussion. Please discuss with your doctor during the consultation how your results will be given.

Home visits

Home visits may be requested by our clinic’s regular patients. The request will be considered by their regular GP and maybe declined or obliged at the doctor’s discretion. It may not be possible to provide home visits on the same day and it can be arranged as per the schedule of the GP. Fees may be charged at the doctor’s discretion depending on the time of visit, distance to travel, complexity and duration of the visit.

Walk-in Patients

Our preference is for patients to make an appointment with the doctor of their choice and a time convenient to you, however walk-in patients (those without an appointment) are welcome. If you arrive without an appointment you will be triaged and seen as soon as an appointment becomes available.
